In the 2010s, computing will become a utility available from a plug in the wall

Objective measurement:

In the United States, either the phone companies, the cable companies, or the power utilities will combine to offer or compete to offer computing as a utility rather than each person having their own computing power at home on a PC-like box.

Why:

People have expressed concern that computing power will not be affordable to lower-income folks. Accordingly, making as little computing power as you need available at a small fee, like the phone system, will help to ensure universal access.
