There will be an anti-technology revolution, similar to the "Butlerian Jihad" in Frank Herbert's Dune.
Objective measurement:
Demand for and use of computers will decline in 1997 and the number of Internet users at the end of 1997 will be lower than at the end of 1996.

Further comments:
Most of the web demographics surveys have show a continual increase in the number of computers on the 'net over the course of 1997.
