Reference

Basic Search
A basic search can provide a wide range of results which may be useful if you are unsure of the exact information you are searching for. When you perform a basic search for a phrase, the database is searched such that any documents containing any of the words in the phrase (an OR search) are returned. To search for documents containing only all the words together in your query, use an advanced search.

Advanced Search
Filter by all words, exact match, any words, none of these words in any of all of the three out of the box knowledgebases:
Knowledge Library (documents in the kmdocument file)
Incident Library  (documents in the probsummary file)
Interaction Library (documents in the incidents file)

Field Values in Advanced Search
Alternately, within each of the three knowledgebases, you can search for records based on field values that are specific to the kb, e.g., author or document type in kmdocument, or assignee name in the incident library.
